At Hanover Church, we gather in worship to glorify the God who is present and active among us. God acts in our lives and in our worship with grace and we gather as a community to respond with gratitude. Through our acts of worship, we share in the life of the Spirit, proclaim the mystery of faith, and give glory to God.
We believe Jesus Christ is truly present and active among us during worship, by the power of the Holy Spirit, through the gifts of Word and Sacrament. When the Scriptures are read and proclaimed and the Sacraments of Baptism and the Lord's Supper are celebrated, we bear witness to Jesus Christ, the living Word.
Through grace, God sustains our faith, gives meaning to our common life, and inspires us to work for the transformation of our community.
The Worship Leadership Team works with the pastor to provide meaningful, nurturing worship for the people at HPC. Some of the committee’s responsibilities include: changing paraments and banners according to the liturgical calendar, maintaining brass fixtures in the sanctuary, ordering supplies as needed for special services and training and scheduling acolytes for Sunday worship. They also order flowers for certain occasions in the Church year and prepare the Church for special services. It is the responsibility of the committee to arrange for pulpit supply when the Pastor is away. They also work closely with the Music Department in purchasing new music and maintaining the instruments used in worship.

Worship at Hanover Church is friendly, welcoming and joy-filled. On any given Sunday, our Spirit-filled service could include joyful contemporary hymns, deep traditional hymns, genuine laughter and numinous silence. We gather with deep reverence for the occasion and revel in the ways the Spirit is made manifest among us.
Our setting is casual and comfortable. We do not have a dress code and there are no designated pews. We invite you to come as you are and sit where you like.
We truly believe this supper belongs to the Lord. The opportunity to eat and drink with Christ is not a right bestowed upon the worthy, but a privilege given to all who come in faith and love. All who come to the table we are honored to set at Hanover are offered the bread and cup.
Children in Worship
Our congregation is blessed with many young children. We are a community that loves the presence of youth in our church. For families with very young children, we do offer a nursery and a cry-room at the back of the sanctuary. However, we welcome infants and toddlers - and the joyful noises they make to the Lord - in the pews.
We make space in our worship for the participation of our youngest members and encourage children to take an active role - from lighting candles to reading or playing music.
Our children's ministry is one of our great joys. We welcome all children and support them as they learn and grow in their faith journey.
You will find warm and friendly people in the pews. While we do not engage in a formal time of passing the peace, you will undoubtedly be greeted warmly and often before, during and after the service.
We worship as a community of faith united by the Holy Spirit and gathered around Jesus Christ, and we extend that fellowship after the service. Visitors are invited, as they feel comfortable, to join our continued time together as we share light refreshments.
We invite you to join us and see why ...
